Kalenberg. Hubacher. Ferch. Three for Öd: The successful duo gets reinforcements – now a trio solves new cases on Öd.

On the island of Öd, detective duo Maja Stein (Paula Kalenberg) and Klaus Hansen (Max Hubacher) fight major crime and are now joined by a striking new addition: Heino Ferch takes on the role of charismatic archivist Tom Mendt, who assumes a new key position between island mythology and investigative work. Weather-beaten, wise, and with a soft core, he becomes the team’s third anchor point.

Filming began in early September on two more 90-minute episodes of Murders on Öd – An Island Crime Story as part of RTL’s Tödlicher Dienstag (“Deadly Tuesday”) crime slot. Production by 307production on behalf of RTL will continue until the end of October 2025, with shoots taking place on the island of Fehmarn as well as in Hamburg and the surrounding area. The screenplay for film 3 is by Holger Karsten Schmidt, and for film 4 by Matthias Klaschka. Both films are directed by Ole Zapatka (Wolfsland, Mordsschwestern, Nord Nord Mord).

Following the successful launch of the first two films, the series now continues: once again, Maja and Klaus investigate on the fictional island of Öd – where life still seems idyllic, but crime always finds its way ashore. Between thrilling investigations, Nordic offbeat humor, a subtle touch of romance, and atmospheric landscape imagery, the trio grows closer in the new films – professionally, personally, and with even more Öd charm. Maja, the analytical investigator from the mainland who must stay for at least another six months, keeps encountering the island’s quirks and has to come to terms with her taciturn colleague Klaus. A quiet but constant spark runs between the two contrasting detectives, as their teamwork develops into deep, unspoken trust.
