A DUMPLING FOR TWO (WT): Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel are back in front of the camera together for ARD Degeto Film

Cologne/South Tyrol, 9 September 2026 – When the future of an inn hinges on a dumpling, you need strong nerves and good ingredients: against the picturesque backdrop of South Tyrol, Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel are continuing their successful comedy series with A DUMPLING FOR TWO (working title). They will be filming there for the ARD Degeto production until the end of September. The screenplay was written by Marc Terjung and David Ungureit, with Tine Rogoll directing.

Alongside Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel, the cast includes Stephan Luca, Susi Stach, Karl Fischer, Cynthia Micas and many more.

Synopsis:

Bärbel Radisch (Andrea Sawatzki), an innkeeper from South Tyrol, is barely scraping by financially at her traditional inn. The entrepreneur Roman Boll (Christian Berkel) sees this as an opportunity to incorporate Bärbel’s old family business into his chain of restaurant outlets, ‘Bollissimo’. Roman checks in undercover at Bärbel’s inn, and the two immediately clash: he is a know-it-all gourmet expert; she is a pragmatic cook with little patience for unsolicited advice. Yet it is Roman, of all people, who becomes her kitchen assistant – and soon, together, they rediscover their love of cooking, which had been lost amidst the demands of business and the threat of bankruptcy. Bärbel decides to enter the local Kaspressknödel competition with a new recipe to save her inn from closure. In the process, far more than just a culinary bond develops between her and Roman. But when Roman’s secret comes to light shortly before the competition, suddenly it’s not just their shared cooking plans but also their feelings that are at stake. Amidst dumplings, business models and a second chance at true love, Bärbel and Roman must figure out what really matters.
