ARD-Degeto comedy A NIGHTGOWN FOR TWO celebrates its premiere

Christian Berkel is awarded the 2026 Acting Award

A NIGHTGOWN FOR TWO (WT) (OT: EIN NACHTHEMD FÜR ZWEI), the latest instalment in the successful comedy series starring Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel, celebrates its premiere at the 22nd German Film Festival (19 August to 6 September). The production by 307 PRODUCTION, commissioned by ARD Degeto Film for ARD, has been nominated for the Rheingold Audience Award. The screenplay was written by David Ungureit and Marc Terjung, and the film was directed by Rick Ostermann.

As part of the festival, Christian Berkel will also be awarded the 2026 Acting Award. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, 30 August 2026.

The Acting Award traditionally recognises outstanding figures in the industry. It honours artists who have made a lasting contribution to German cinema – not only through their presence on screen, but above all through their artistic expressiveness.

Synopsis:

The marriage of Luzi (Andrea Sawatzki) and Dietrich Liebholz (Christian Berkel) is on the rocks. Even their couples’ therapist, Sven (Serkan Kaya), can’t do anything to help. They decide to get a divorce – and this just before their daughter Amelie’s (Luise Aschenbrenner) wedding. So as not to ruin Amelie’s wedding, they keep the news to themselves for the time being. As a last-ditch effort, their couples therapist tries out a new method: the angel Harald (Armin Rohde) is supposed to help them see things from a different perspective. When Luzi and Dietrich wake up the next morning, they are horrified to discover that they have swapped not only their perspectives, but also their bodies! To avoid being taken for mad, Luzi and Dietrich pretend nothing has happened. Whilst Dietrich has mother-daughter chats with Amelie and Luzi talks shop about football with Dietrich’s mate, they have to persuade Harald to swap them back. But he has no intention of doing so…

Alongside Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel, the cast includes Armin Rohde, Luise Aschenbrenner, Yannik Heckmann, Petra Kleinert, Moritz Führmann, Serkan Kaya, Rainer Ewerrien, Flo Demmer and many more.
