Continuation of the new ARD series TWO WOMEN FOR EVERY TAIL: Filming begins on two new movies starring Bettina Zimmermann and Meriel Hinsching as veterinarians in Naumburg.

307 production · 13. May 2025

Shooting began last week in Leipzig on behalf of ARD Degeto Film for two new films in the series ZWEI FRAUEN FÜR ALLE FELLE for the “Endlich Freitag im Ersten” slot. Bettina Zimmermann once again takes on the role of dedicated veterinarian Maja Freydank, who is passionately committed to the welfare of her animal patients and causes a stir in the small town with her unconventional manner. Meriel Hinsching is once again at her side in front of the camera as practice colleague Julia Kramer.

Animal emergencies are part of everyday life at the veterinary practice in Naumburg. But when an injured sport horse turns up all alone in the middle of their practice garden, even Maja and Julia are astonished. The ambitious rider and a smug veterinary competitor put Maja’s skills – and her composure – to the test. And then an ailing rabbit brings them right into the middle of an emotionally charged family drama…

Other roles are played by Ramona Kunze-Libnow, Thorsten Merten, Nelly Hoffmann, Emma Forchel, Michael Schweisser, Edelgard Hansen and Selda Kaya.

Under the direction of Stefan Bühling and based on scripts by Anja Flade-Kruse and Antonia Rothe-Liermann, the episodes “Pferdeliebe” (WT) and “Familie” (WT) are scheduled to be filmed in Naumburg, Freyburg an der Saale and Leipzig until July 2.

Film 3: “Horse Love” (WT)
In the consultation hour at the Naumburg veterinary practice, things usually go in order. But when a horse suddenly appears in the garden, Dr. Maja Freydank (Bettina Zimmermann) and Julia Kramer (Meriel Hinsching) interrupt their usual routine: something is wrong with the animal, which is clearly a highly trained racehorse! Although the doctors identify the horse farm owner Karsten Hofmann (Leopold Hornung) as the owner and bring “Icarus” back there, they still feel responsible for the injured champion. Their colleague Dr. Sebastian Pfeifer (Max von Pufendorf), head of the veterinary clinic “Sanaripets”, wants to get the animal fit for a prestigious tournament again quickly by means of a surgical procedure. The ambitious young jockey Selma (Hannah Gharib) wants to finally make her breakthrough with Icarus and Hofmann has invested a lot of money in it. However, Maja wants to prevent the risky but lucrative operation from taking place. The fact that the idealistic doctor thinks first about animal welfare and then about business causes her practice to slide into the red. Her young colleague Julia is also worried. She has a secret that she doesn’t want to confide in her boss. But Maja senses that something is bothering Julia…

Film 4: “Family” (WT)
When 13-year-old Jannik Siebold (Felix Nölle) turns up at the Freydank & Kramer practice with his rabbit Thea, the pet initially appears to be suffering from a harmless loss of appetite. However, Dr. Maja Freydank discovers that there is much more to the doctor’s visit: Thea needs an operation – and Jannik needs someone to listen to him properly. The sensitive boy, who is mourning his deceased mother, is angry with his father Marvin (Timur Isik) and his new girlfriend Susanne Grau (Lucie Heinze). He even suspects his bonus sister Flora (Cara Vondey) of being behind Thea’s illness! In order to help everyone, the experienced vet shows her qualities as a psychologist and therapist. She also faces a challenge as a practice owner. Her young colleague Julia Kramer is struggling with a difficult decision: in order to support her paraplegic brother Leo (Matti Schmidt-Schaller) and leave her money worries behind, she is considering a lucrative job change. If Maja wants to keep her beloved colleague, she has to find the best solution…
