No More Beginners: Double Festival Presence for "Berühmt sein für Anfänger" in Munich and Ludwigshafen

Our film “Berühmt sein für Anfänger” was screened at the 2025 Filmfest Munich in the “New German Television” section and has been nominated for the Rheingold Audience Award 2025 at the Festival of German Film in Ludwigshafen.

 

Short and sweet: A novelist (Christian Berkel) writes bestsellers – but under a female pseudonym. A taxi driver (Andrea Sawatzki) takes on the role to keep the secret safe. A romantic comedy of mistaken identity.

The story: Gregor is a successful author, but not under his real name. He writes emotional romance novels as “Vanessa Fox” – a female pseudonym that sells far better than his brooding, sarcastic literary fiction. When his latest romance novel wins a prestigious award, the supposed author is expected to make a public appearance. Enter Elke, a quick-witted taxi driver who steps in as a stand-in and soon becomes a sensation as the fake Vanessa Fox.

Written with sharp wit by our award-winning screenwriter David Ungureit, the film offers humor with depth and touching subplots, like a couples therapist on the verge of divorce. We follow our novelist as he finds himself caught in a love story just like the ones he writes – a romantic whirlwind straight out of one of his own paperback bestsellers. A true gem of a film! The Ludwigshafen Screenplay Award 2025 goes to David Ungureit, currently represented at the festival with Fame for Beginners (co-written with Marc Terjung). The award will be presented as part of a gala screening on Sunday, August 24 at 6:00 PM in Zeltkino B on the festival island in the Rhine.
