Kalenberg. Hubacher. Ferch. Three for Öd: The successful duo gets some reinforcements – now a trio is solving new cases on Öd.


On the island of Öd, the investigative duo Maja Stein (Paula Kalenberg) and Klaus Hansen (Max Hubacher) are fighting serious crime and are now receiving notable support: Heino Ferch takes on the role of the charismatic archivist Tom Mendt, who plays a new key role navigating the balance between island lore and investigative work. Weather-beaten, worldly-wise and with a soft heart, he becomes the team’s third key member.

Filming has been underway since early September on two further 90-minute episodes of “Murder on Öd – An Island Thriller” (“Morden auf Öd – Ein Insel-Krimi”) as part of RTL’s “Deadly Tuesday” (“Tödlicher Dienst-Tag”) series. Production will continue until the end of October 2025, carried out by 307 production on behalf of RTL on Fehmarn, as well as in Hamburg and the surrounding area. The screenplay for Film 3 was written by Holger Karsten Schmidt and for Film 4 by Matthias Klaschka. Ole Zapatka is directing both films („Wolfsland“, „Mordsschwestern“, „Nord Nord Mord“).

Film 3 “Ödkieker” (AT)
When Maria Kerner, a young visitor to the island, is found dead in a holiday home, everything initially points to suicide – but soon the evidence begins to suggest a staged crime.
An encrypted note leads investigators Maja Stein and Klaus Hansen to a remote house – and to the key witness Katharina Jürgens, who is under the protection of the State Criminal Police Office, alongside Korkmazoglu and Greiner.
With the help of the returning archivist Tom Mendt, the investigation delves deeper into a web of old secrets, covert operations and personal entanglements.
What connects these two women – and is Maria Kerner’s death really just an isolated incident?

Film 4 “The cry of the seagull” (“Der Schrei der Möwe”)
The morning after his stag party, Benny Klaasen, the young owner of a riding centre, is found dead on the beach, having drowned. At first, everything points to a tragic accident, but then Klaus Hansen and his colleague Maja Stein, together with Tom Mendt, realise that someone helped Benny meet his end.
There are several potential suspects. Klaus and Maja try to piece together what happened during and after the stag party.
Why was there an argument between Benny and his friend Marco at the party? Did Paul, the bride’s jealous ex-boyfriend, want to stop the wedding? Why has a hired stripper suddenly vanished without a trace? And why are the screeching seagulls keeping Maja Stein awake all night…?
Whilst Klaus finds it difficult to investigate his friends, Maja receives active support from Tom Mendt, who knows the island inside out. Together, they must piece together exactly what happened on the night of the party…
