Alongside DAZN’s football broadcasts, the crime thriller ‘Lost in Fuseta’ was the biggest streaming success in April, the Gerhard Schröder documentary ‘Außer Dienst?’ did really well. ‘Charité’ did not hold the audience even non-linear.

ARD celebrated a surprisingly big success with the two-part series ‘Lost in Fuseta – Tracing Shadows’ when it was broadcast linearly in April: over six million viewers watched part 1 on Thursday evening, and the following Saturday, part 2 was still watched by just under five million – significantly more than the first two-part series of the Portuguese crime thriller, which had only reached 4.54 and 3.94 million viewers respectively with the two episodes a year and a half earlier.
And the success story of ‘Lost in Fuseta’ continued in the ARD Mediathek – if you disregard the broadcast of the Champions League match between FC Bayern and Arsenal London on DAZN, there was no other content that recorded more views in the Mediathek than this crime thriller two-parter. Only content that was also shown on TV is analysed here. The views are included from 14 days before the TV broadcast until 13 days after the TV broadcast. The net reach of part 1 of ‘Lost in Fuseta’ was 762,000, while the figure for part 2 – which had less reach on TV – was as high as 800,000.

These figures cannot be compared with the average viewing figures we are used to from TV ratings because they do not indicate an average reach over the entire runtime; here, it is enough to start the stream to be counted as a viewer. In contrast to the unadjusted viewing figures, however, you are at least not counted twice if you start a stream more than once. The fact that the second part had a slightly higher rate than the first suggests that some people who had seen the first part on traditional TV continued to watch it in the media centre. And that many generally stayed tuned.
